I was cleaning out files on an old computer this evening and came across something I wrote when my daughter, Brianna was 2 3/4 years old.
This morning as Brianna and I were walking ouside to run some errands she exclaimed, "Look at the beautiful leaves that Jesus made." Then she stopped on the steps and said, "Jesus, thank You for the leaves You made and for this beatuiful day and all my friends. Amen!" Then she opened her eyes, raised her head and kept walking down the steps.
How many times do we stop in pure joy as we are scurrying out into the world and thank Jesus for what He has made? I'm guilty of not doing this enough, but I'm so thrilled that Brianna's spirit is soft to things of God.
Another instance around that same time frame:
The other day Brianna's eczema flared up again and I suggested that she pray to Jesus about it. She instantly stopped what she was doing and said, "Jesus thank You for my eczema." Hmmm - Are we adults so quick to thank Jesus for the pain that comes our way?

I have a 2 year old who is into music and cars. Last week, he was trying to figure out how to load his Guitar (a Ukelele) onto his big truck (a tricycle). Somehow he figure out a way to do it, hopped on and started scooting across the floor.
He looked back at me and said "Bye, Daddy, I love you!" I asked "Where are you going?" He said "I going see Jesus!"
When I think of someone "going to see Jesus", I relate to one that is passing away, but I guess it's not always the case is it? Here was a little boy who just wanted to go play his guitar for Him. I he worked pretty hard to do it, might I add.

How precious! Kids teach us a lot - guess that's why God gave them to us (beyond loving and caring for them and bringing back them to HIM).

My children have taught me to live in the moment. My 3 year old can be crying one minute and happy the next. They also taught me that they know more than you realize. Last year I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. We had told our then 6 year old what we thought he could understand. We told him I was going to have surgery and then the doctors would give me medicine (chemo) to make me better. A few days later he caught me in tears. I told him I was scared of the surgery, he said "because you might die?". The surgery I was facing had a 5% chance of death. I simply said that it is a big surgery and the doctors will do their very best and God will make sure I come home. I ended up having the chemo first at a local university hospital and it didn't work. I then switched to Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Philadelphia. After two rounds of chemo and designer drugs I was in remission. They gave me two more rounds of the same. Then I had surgery in August. In October I had more chemo and radiation. Right now I am cancer free, praise God!
